NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The rising cost of energy, and the “mismanagement” of roadworks throughout the country are two of the reasons Free National Movement members are raising the alarm over the portfolio of Works Minister Alfred Sears.

The FNM called a press conference Wednesday morning, on the grounds of the Ministry of Works, where they noted the role the minister responsible has played in what they call three vexing issues affecting Bahamians.

FNM Leader Michael Pintard claims Sears’ decisions have led to a 163 percent increase in fuel costs over a 13 month period.

In November, as he addressed the fuel hedging strategy brought forth by the Minnis administration, Sears said it was no longer an option.

The FNM has called for Sears to resign after “misleading parliament” on this issue.
