NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former bank teller avoided serving a one-year prison sentence for stealing by reason of employment Thursday, after he met the terms of his plea agreement.

Cameron Rolle Jr. took a plea deal in 2018 requiring him to repay the $56,600 that he stole from the account of former Governor General Arthur D. Hanna while he worked as a teller at the Bank of Bahamas.

Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis ordered Rolle jailed for a year after he only paid $35,520 in restitution.

However, before Rolle was placed on the bus to convey him to prison, the balance of $21,080 was paid.
