Former Castaway Cay Executive Charged with Rape Released on $15,000 Bail

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former executive at Disney Cruise line’s Castaway Cay charged with sex crimes against a 29-year-old American woman has been released on $15,000 cash bail.

Gursel Sahilbas faces rape and indecent assault charges stemming from an incident that allegedly took place at the cruise line’s private port in the Abacos on September 22.

Sahilbas has been fired from his post as the island director, according to his lawyer Tamika Roberts.

Sahilbas, a British citizen, will be allowed to return to Liverpool, England while on bail. He spent three weeks on remand at the prison after he was formally charged in Abaco on October 6.

Sanhilbas’ case is expected to be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court on January 22 with the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.
