NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Chairman Dr. Duane Sands claiming the public healthcare system is suffering from the shortage of important supplies and is questioning the reason behind it.

Dr. Sands, who served as health minister under the former Minnis administration, says there seems to be a medication shortage across the island.

Sands reasons that while some may say the shortage may be due to supply chain concerns, he’s suggesting it could be a money matter.

One of the supplies on the list is vascular graphs which he says are used with dialysis patients. He says they’re available in the private sector but not in the public sector.

Sand also claims he was contacted by a patient in need of a drug prescribed to cancer patients.

We reached out to the Public Hospitals Authority Managing Director Dr. Aubynette Rolle who said she would check for an update.
