NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Prime Minister Perry Christie was in complete shock when he learned that Social Services, Information, and Broadcasting Minister Obie Wilchcombe had passed away suddenly.

Christie says he and Wilchcombe shared some important moments in life, and manifested loyalty in extraordinary ways.

As the minister responsible for investments, Christie says he and the then Tourism Minister Wilchcombe had to work closely together.

And after winning the 2012 elections, they focused on resurrecting Freeport.

The former prime minister sharing that Wilchcombe believed that the country was too New Providence centric and more attention was needed in Grand Bahama and the Family Islands.

He also played a major role in developing religious and sports tourism.

Christie believes that Wilchcombe should be remembered by the government in an effective and meaningful way in western Grand Bahama.
