Former West GB Independent Candidate Accused Of Soliciting Sex From Teen

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 31-year-old political hopeful faced a magistrate today after prosecutors say he solicited sex from a teenage girl.

Daquan Swain was not required to enter a plea to the charge of procuration when he made his first appearance before magistrate Abigail Farrington.

Prosecutors allege that the crime took place between June 23 and September 3.

Swain, who contested the West Grand Bahama and Bimini seat as an independent candidate during the 2023 by-election, was granted $9,000 bail.

He is due back in court on December 4 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers that will send the case to the supreme court for trial.
