NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Heart-wrenching cries filled the night sky as the shocking and tragic reality hit home for the family and friends of former Free National Movement MP Don Saunders.

Saunders was shot and killed outside a club in the Gambier Village Community around nine Wednesday night.

At the scene last night was the top brass of the Royal Bahamas Police Force including ACPS in charge of drug enforcement and crime management.

Also present was Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander, who told reporters police believed it may have been a robbery gone bad.

As the night wore on, the crowd began to swell as news of the FNM deputy chairman’s death began to spread. Scores of community leaders and politicians stood on the sidelines in disbelief.

Among the onlookers, was Archdeacon Keith Cartwright, who was a foster father to Saunders since he was 13-years-old.

Cartwright says he spoke to his foster son the morning of his tragic death.

In a moment not often seen at crime scenes. Police allowed Cartwright to perform the last rights as Saunder’s body was placed in the back of an awaiting hearse.
