“It really is truly an honor to be recognized by The Fox Foundation.”

On Saturday evening, 20 men, including Chef Kevin Culmer, were recognized by The Fox Foundation during its third annual Legacy of Leaders ceremony.

The invitation-only event took place in Baha Mar’s ballroom and was attended by Prime Minister Philip Davis, his wife Ann Marie Davis, and other diplomats and citizens.

The list of honorees featured fathers from various sectors of society, including Parliament, education, the entertainment industry, healthcare and the clergy.

Presented under the theme, “The Power of Second Chances: From Setback to Comeback,” honoree Dr. Tyneil Cargill shared that his recent struggle with lung cancer has transformed his perspective on life.

Dr. Cargill says occasions like this allow him to share his journey with others.

“It allows me now to use that platform to dive into my purpose, to get out there and instill hope in other men to not suffer in silence.”

Fellow honoree Carlos Reid emphasized his imperfect past, saying despite his poor choices, he believes his life can serve as an inspiration to other men.

“I believe that God sometimes allows some of us to make those wrong turns so we could turn around and help some other people and encourage them to say, ‘Boy, if Carlos Reid could do it, then there’s a chance for me.'”

Founder of the foundation Adrian Fox says he, like many men, is recognized as the patriarch of his family.

He says fathers strive to ensure financial stability within their households, and their efforts warrant appreciation.

“I don’t only deal with the financial part of it, I also deal with the emotional part. The problems, this one don’t like that one, I try to fix it. You know, it’s an ongoing thing, but if you love your family, you’ve got to be there for them.”
