FRANCE – A French far-right lawmaker is serving a 15-day suspension for a racist remark during a legislative session, prompting condemnation from across the political spectrum.

Gregorie de Fournas was heard shouting the words “return to Africa”, at a fellow lawmaker who is black.

Carlos Bilongo was challenging the French government about migrants stranded at sea.

Bilongo says he’s deeply hurt by the remark. Other politicians including France’s president said they were shocked.
