GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Power Company has activated its emergency storm preparedness plan on Grand Bahama, bracing for the possible impact of subtropical storm Nicole as it strengthens.

Cleopatra Russell, Director of Communications for the Grand Bahama Power Company, says they have been constantly meeting with key stakeholders to ensure they are ready to respond when and if necessary, teams have ensured that inventory levels are adequately stocked.

If you intend to use a generator during a power outage, Russell says choosing a licensed electrician is the way to go.

As many Bahamians have a tendency to roam the streets immediately after a storm, Russell explains how you could be putting yourself in harm’s way if downed power lines are nearby.

If you see a power related emergency, you can contact the GBPC at 352-8411 for the assistance of a trained technical crew.
