GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – As residents in Grand Bahama braced for the impact of TS Nicole, many opted to seek last minute shelter at a resort.

Residents and visitors filing into the Castaways Resort today seeking safe shelter ahead of Nicole, some of them from Family Islands including Abaco.

Our News spoke to resident manager Vernon Grant who says this isn’t uncommon for the resort.

Georgia Resident Chris Kennedy says she and her team were visiting for a week-long convocation. She says she’s never experienced a hurricane before.

Arden Forest resident, Aliyah Lord says based on her family’s experience with hurricane Dorian, they were not willing to take a risk by staying at home, especially since their home is still in need of repairs.
