GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama saw more than 2000 young people take to the street in Eight Mile Rock for a good cause.

School children, teachers, and guardians participated in the 2022 National Youth March in Eight Mile Rock.

Social Services Minister, Obie Wilchcombe, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for West End and Bimini, says the event was a great display of unity and purpose for a new generation.

When we caught up with Dorlan Cartwright, a chair on the march’s committee, he said the march was an excellent example of youth groups and leaders working together.

This year’s march was especially meaningful for many of the children, as it was the first event of its scale since the pandemic.

That enthusiasm, shining through in school chants and waves to the onlookers, will hopefully leave a lasting impression on the students about the impact a march can have.

As for Wilchcome, he says the march is part of his ministry’s effort to reach out and help the future of the nation find focus and purpose.
