NEW YORK – A global technology outage on Friday grounded flights, knocked banks offline, and disrupted media outlets.

Cybersecurity firm crowdstrike confirmed it was not a cyberattack. In New York City’s Times Square, some billboards went dark, with local media sharing images.

Tom Harris, President of The Times Square Alliance, said a few billboards were still offline by noon, but it was unclear if the blackout was due to the outage or maintenance.
