His father confirmed the news to our Denielle Miller, expressing his anguish as he reflects on the last moments he shared with his son.

“Yea his sister and his mum was over there waiting on him, so they call me and say Nick what happen, I ain’t see NJ and they saying a plane crash, I start screaming, I start telling them no, can’t be, because I sure he should have been there so, 15 minutes”

In a telephone conversation between Oliver and our Denielle Miller, he detailed the final moments he spent with his son, 16-year-old Nicholas Oliver Jr., before he tragically passed away in the July 10th North Andros Plane Crash.

Oliver Sr. says he took Nicholas to the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) to catch a flight to North Andros, adding that his son was enthusiastic about attending the All Andros Regatta this weekend.

“He say bey daddy I going to bed because you coming for me in the morning, we going on the boat in the morning to go Andros. I gone to the boat too late because I gone so late we couldn’t get on the boat.”

Oliver subsequently took Nicholas to LPIA to catch a flight.

He says he received a call from Nicholas’ mother, who was waiting for the flight’s arrival at the San Andros Airport, when she had heard news of a plane crash.

Her words immediately shattering his world, and in a state of panic, he rushed back to the airport, where personnel confirmed the dreadful news.

“And when I get back to the airport after hearing the news, the pilots that was there, they tell me say my son went with him.”

Now he says he’s left clinging on to memories of him and his son.

“You got give thanks and be grateful for the little times that you spend, because God knows that would have have been the last time that I see my son.”
