While in the country’s capital, a young Kirkwood made a grown decision and dropped out of school. That made his grandfather give him a stern warning about life that he’ll never forget.

Throughout his career Kirkwood wore many hats, from a heavy equipment operator to a chef in the hotel industry and even working in a funeral home embalming bodies.

But it was with the Bahamian treasure, conch, Kirkwood would find his crown.

Now envisioning something bigger for himself, he was blessed with a village of supporters that would take him from a small table to an impressive restaurant on Awarak Cay.

Throughout the 35 years Goldie’s has existed, things were not always easy.
