GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – In just 22 days the country has seen the murder rate spike as the count now stands at 17.

The bloodshed now spreading to the northern Bahamas – a 38-year-old man was shot and killed in Dundas Town, Abaco last week.

And most recently, a man was shot outside a nightclub on Queens Highway in Grand Bahama over the weekend.

The recent crimes prompted some Grand Bahama members of the Free National Movement to call a press conference on the island Monday as they say crime is getting out of hand.

He’s also concerned about the country’s tourism product being impacted.

And while he says the FNM supports the government’s push to fight crime, he says they will still hold them accountable.

Thompson provides some recommendations to the issue.

Meantime, the FNM’s West End and Bimini By-Election Candidate Bishop Ricardo Grant also lent his voice to the cause. He says the country is facing a crisis.
