NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Gymnastics
The Gymnastics Federation of The Bahamas has named Team Bahamas for the 2026 CARIFTA Artistic Gymnastics Championships, with Nassau set to host the regional competition from November 13–16.
The Bahamian squad will feature athletes competing across Levels 1 through 9, along with gymnasts in the Pan American Gymnastics Union, or PAGU, Hopes Programme.
The team will look to build on its performance at the 2025 championships in Trinidad and Tobago, where The Bahamas earned 44 medals, including eight gold, 11 silver and 25 bronze.
With the competition now coming to home soil, Team Bahamas will have the opportunity to showcase its talent in front of a local crowd as it takes on the region’s top gymnasts.
NCAA Football
Bahamian wide receiver Prince Strachan delivered a breakout performance for West Virginia, recording five catches for 121 yards in Saturday’s 52–31 loss to Arizona.
The 6-foot-5 receiver provided a much-needed spark in the Mountaineers’ passing game, including a 36-yard reception that helped set up a touchdown as West Virginia tried to keep pace with the Wildcats.
Strachan’s 121 yards marked a season high, and his big-play ability was on display as he averaged more than 24 yards per catch.
The Grand Bahama native is in his first season at West Virginia after previous stops at Boise State, where he was part of the programme during its College Football Playoff run, and USC, where injuries limited his opportunities.
Strachan also missed the Mountaineers’ first two games this season before making his debut against Virginia. His production has increased over the last three games, culminating in Saturday’s career-best performance.
Despite Strachan’s contribution, West Virginia suffered its third consecutive loss, falling to 3–3 overall and 0–3 in Big 12 play.
Golf
Team Bahamas has captured the 2026 Caribbean Golf Association Four-Ball Championships, climbing from fourth place last year to claim the Ambrose Gouthro Cup in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.
The Bahamian team finished with 88 points, well ahead of defending champions Jamaica with 71, while Trinidad and Tobago finished third with 65.
The Bahamas led all three rounds, opening with 28 points before adding 30 in each of the final two rounds to secure the title.
The team also captured two division championships. Nolan Johnson and Richard Gibson Jr. won the Men’s Mid-Amateur Division, while Raymond Gibson and James Wallace topped the Legends Division.
The Bahamas also earned runner-up finishes in the Super Senior Men’s and Women’s 25-Plus divisions.
Team manager and Bahamas Golf Federation Vice President Anthony Hinsey credited the team’s intense six-week preparation and determination for the victory.
