HAITI – A human rights group in Haiti says violence by armed gangs declined significantly following the emergence of a vigilante group, known as Bwa Kale, in April.

In a recent report center for analysis and research in human rights said the group, linked to at least 160 killings, began after residents in Port-au-Prince lynched and set fire to more than a dozen suspected gang members on April 24th.

The report says the groups are mainly made up of young people including children, and likely emerged from ineffectiveness of government among other things.
