Haiti Needs CARICOM to Lead the Way

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Before Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry can lead his country to elections, the country is in desperate need of help to restore security and stability.

He is a part of a temporarily appointed government put in place since the 2021 assassination of President Jouvenil Moisse.

Last week he asked fellow CARICOM leaders to broker talks sometime soon between warring factions, with a goal of ending the violence, poverty, and chaos.

But resolving Haiti’s problems isn’t from a lack of trying. The United States and Canada are imposing sanctions.

Meanwhile, neighbors like the Dominican Republic and The Bahamas are increasingly aggravated by the constant flow of illegal immigrants.

Henry, sympathetic to the problem, says the solution is to fix Haiti.
