PALESTINE – The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has confirmed the deaths of several of its top military leaders during Israel’s two-year war on the Gaza Strip.

In a recorded statement, Hamas’ armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, announced that its military commander Abu Ubaida, the group’s public voice throughout the war, was killed.

Hamas also confirmed the death of its chief of staff, Mohammed Sinwar, saying he led the Qassam Brigades during what it described as an “exceptionally difficult period.”

The group further said Mohammed Shabana, commander of the Rafah Brigade, was killed, adding that he died alongside Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’ political chief.
