GAZA – Negotiations over hostages have not reached an agreement but have not yet failed.

A representative from the Hamas political office in Doha, says Qatari efforts are still ongoing.

The deal includes 50 Israeli and foreign captives in exchange for a number of Palestinian women and children, a ceasefire – of either three or five days – and humanitarian aid into all of Gaza “Without exceptions”.

It would mark the biggest release in hostages held by Hamas since the Palestinian militant group burst over the Gaza border, attacked parts of Israel and took hostages into the enclave.

Hamas has agreed to the general outlines of this deal, but Israel – which has since bombarded and sent forces into Gaza – has not and is still negotiating the details.
