GAZA STRIP – Hamas say it is delaying the release of 17 Israeli hostages, accusing Israel of breaking the Gaza ceasefire.

In a statement, Hamas claimed that Israel’s actions blocking humanitarian aid, shelling Northern Gaza, and delaying displaced persons’ return are clear violations of the deal.

Israel fired back, calling the move a “complete violation” with Defense Minister Israel Katz ordering the IDF to be on high alert for any scenario in Gaza.

As part of the exchange, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners have already been freed, though Israel reports that eight of the hostages are dead.

The next release was set for Saturday.
