NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An early morning shooting leaving a man in his early thirties dead in the Chippingham community.

The news sending shockwaves throughout the area as family members and residents learned about the tragic incident. The mother of the victim tells Our News the violence must come to an end.

Marguerite Burrows reflected on the life of 33-year-old Dominique Berry who was gunned down in an early morning shooting on Infant View Road and Gibbs Lane.

According to reports, shortly after 7am police were notified via Shot Spotter technology that gun shots were discharged in the area.

Police say while Berry was driving a silver Nissan Note, he was cut off by another vehicle and the culprits opened fire killing him on the scene.

Shortly after the our news team arrived, the victim’s body was carried away as family members were left in shock as they found out that their loved one was brutally murdered.

Berry’s mother says he was construction worker and father of three – an 11-year-old girl, a ten-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy.

Press Liaison Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings confirmed the victim did not have any recent interactions with police and was not being electronically monitored.

Police are asking anyone with information that may help to solve this to come forward.

This is the country’s seventh recorded murder for 2023.
