Health Minister: Family Island Care Won’t Be Left Behind

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Family Islands will not be left behind in the plans to bring healthcare facilities up to modern standards, according to the minister of health. 

His comments came after a tour of the recently completed modular buildings, and renovation efforts in the Princess Margaret Hospital.

The work to improve Family Island healthcare facilities and emergency health services, including the long-awaited access to ambulances on the islands is ramping up.

When it comes to getting ambulances for the Family Islands, Managing Director of the Public Hospitals Authority Dr. Aubynette Rolle says funding isn’t the issue.

She adds efforts to address shortages in trained emergency medical technicians are going to be addressed as soon as next week in Grand Bahama.
