NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Medicinal Marijuana could soon be legal, Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Michael Darville telling reporters legislation is in its final stages of drafting, with hopes of being tabled before summer.

That confirmation coming from Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Michael Darville as the push to legalize medicinal marijuana is moving forward. This comes after months of consultations, and drafting by the Attorney General’s office.

There’s been a lot of speculation about when legislation will be brought to parliament. The last update was an assurance from Attorney General Ryan Pinder that a bill would be tabled in January of this year, but that didn’t happen.

As the world advances in medical knowledge and technology, Dr. Darville says the benefits of medicinal marijuana are clear.

The local rastafarian community has made it known how they feel about the bill, and the Health Minister says talks with them have been good.
