Hit-and-run Victim’s Brother: “What I Gone Tell His Kids? They Daddy Get Knocked Down Like a Dog?”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It was an emotional scene outside the morgue this morning at the Princess Margaret Hospital, after police reporting early Friday morning that a man was struck by a vehicle that later drove off, leaving him for dead.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It was an emotional scene outside the morgue this morning at the Princess Margaret Hospital, after police reporting early Friday morning that a man was struck by a vehicle that later drove off, leaving him for dead.

Family members have identified the victim as 43-year-old, Ryan Basden.

Overcome with grief and anger, the victim’s brother Kendrick Smith, telling reporters it was a heartless thing to do.

“He’s love he’s loved…everyone love my brother…he’s a good person.”

According to his brother, Basden leaves behind several children.

Some of his daughters were also present, overwhelmed with emotion.

“He have 5 girls and one boy. My brother is work hard to take care he children, he love his children….what I must tell his children? That someone knock him down and leave him in the road to die?”

Police say they’re still searching for the driver responsible, but the family says they are disappointed with the investigation, claiming they have footage and other evidence they believe could assist investigators.

However, they say no one seems willing to help or listen.

“It’s a sliver jeep you understand, like a Kia jeep what struck my brother, one occupant driver on it, someone have to know…”

The family describes Basden as a hard-working member of the community.

Smith, also says he’s disappointed by what he describes as a lack of empathy from community leaders following his brother’s death.

For the person responsible for the fatal hit and run, Smith says “Turn yourself in sir. If you know what good for you please turn yourself in sir.”
