NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After she launched a blistering attack on National Emergency Management Agency Director Captain Stephen Russell, Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard says the House Speaker owes him an apology.

Berthony McDermott reports.

FNM Leader Michael Pintard says House speaker Patricia Deveaux owes NEMA Director Captain Stephen Russell an apology.

The call comes after she launched an attack on him for his response to tornadic activity on Wednesday evening.

The tornadic activity damaged homes in the Bamboo Town constituency Deveaux represents.

She said while officials from the Ministry of Works and Social Services responded, NEMA officials didn’t.

She even suggested Russell would be better suited for a day job.

While he is sympathetic to the issue, Pintard called her reaction inappropriate.

During the outburst in Parliament, Pintard pointed out the NEMA is a coordinating agency when natural disasters happen.

Later in Thursday’s parliamentary session, the house speaker also had this to say to St. Annes MP Adrian White which went viral on social media.

Pintard stressed that members of the FNM feel they are often spoken to like children.

It’s something they say won’t be tolerated.
