NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Imagine arriving home from a shopping trip, checking your wallet, only to discover that the change you received was counterfeit.

Or stopping to get ice cream, only for the vendor to tell you the dollar bill you presented doesn’t feel right.

It turns out that’s not so far-fetched.

That’s why the Central Bank of The Bahamas is calling on residents to protect themselves by getting familiar with security features on their bank notes.

Deputy Manager for the Currency Department, Brett Lashley, explains there are several features to look out for, and there’s an app that can help you.

Lashley also encouraging residents to exercise patience when conducting transactions.
