IDAHO, USA – The execution of Thomas Creech in Idaho was halted due to difficulties setting up the lethal injection IV line.

That’s according to the Department of Correction which issued a statement that said the medical team attempted multiple times to establish IV access but faced challenges, leading to the decision to stop the execution.

The 73 year old was returned to his cell.

Director Josh Tewalt said the department does not currently have a plan to proceed in the creech case.

Despite this setback, several more executions are planned this year across different states and the federal government.

Creech, who is Idaho’s longest-serving death row inmate, was sentenced for a 1981 killing.
