NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Grade One Revenue Officer with Customs’ Information Technology (IT) Unit, Nadia Newton-Williams, has one word to describe how things have been since the Exempt app rolled out this summer.

There have been reports of long waits on customs lines since the implementation of the app, Williams explains.

For those who haven’t registered yet, we got an inside look at the Exempt app, thanks to Grade One Customs Revenue Officer, Doyle Burrows.

One of the highlights he wanted to share was the in-app help desk, where you can find instructional Youtube videos as well as a live-chat for any questions you may have.

Burrows tells us while the questions on the app may seem extensive, they’re just like the old paper forms.

And he says declaring your items is easier than it looks, with the app calculating duty rates for you and offering in-app payment.

At the end of the form you can choose whether or not you’d like to choose your exemption.
