NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Boxing Day Junkanoo parade is one week away, and groups are working tirelessly in shacks across the island.

An ongoing rift within one of the biggest names in Junkanoo won’t keep the faction led by Trevor Davis from showing all the Valley Boys Junkanoo group has to offer for both upcoming parades.

When it comes to the Boxing Day parade, their theme this year is “Revenge of the Arthropods”.

And while it may sound like a tongue twister, there’s a dedicated team tasked with bringing it all to life.

Costume designer Kenny “Doc” Bain told me that with banners more than 20 feet tall, it takes superb pasting and synchronized choreography.

Every detail is designed to amplify the theme, giving the crowd a true Valley Boys Junkanoo group experience.

And while it’s not exactly a new concept, with a similar one executed more than a decade ago, Bain says they’re bringing something new to the parade.

And fans don’t have to wait until boxing day to see their favorite junkanoo group.

Their chairman, Trevor Davis, says there’s a pep rally planned for Sunday on Potter’s Cay dock, where fans can see one last rush before bay.
