Shari-Cardeece Clarke says she founded The Monarchy Taproom to offer an elevated beverage experience while celebrating Bahamian history through its unique draft offerings and heritage-inspired atmosphere.

“For far too long persons have been putting out the regular bars where you go out and grab a bottle, grab a can. We said no, no, no. We’re here to give The Bahamas and the world an elevated beverage experience.”

And with that idea, Shari-Cardeece Clarke founded The Monarchy.

Reportedly the largest taproom on New Providence, every drink is served on draft.

“We serve locally manufactured beers, but we also specialize in putting beverages on draft. We’re the only place in the entire world you can find Rude Boy on draft, margaritas on draft, and sky juice on draft.”

Enhancing the taproom’s charm is its décor.

Reminiscent of a family living room, it features wooden furniture, party games, and antique photographs, including an image of the country’s first Prime Minister, Sir Lynden Pindling, with Prince Charles, taken in 1973.

Clarke says they were intentional about incorporating the country’s vibrant history, even choosing the name, The Monarchy, to reflect that vision.

“For almost 300 years, from December 12, 1718, The Bahamas was known as the Bahama Isles. Woodes Rogers came here with one goal and one goal only: expel the pirates, restore commerce, and we’re here to honor that legacy right here on Bay Street in the city of Nassau.”
