Is The Vault At The Parliamentary Department Secure?

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – The validity and security of our election under serious scrutiny over the past few weeks as The Free National Movement and Coalition of Independents taking issue with several Parliamentary Registration Department procedures, including registry issues, frustrating application processes and the chaos that ensued on Advanced Poll Day.

But, COI Leader Lincoln Bain, once again taking issue with the security of the vault at the PRD on Harold Road.

“The vault was the vault that was used for the Bank of The Bahamas. It actually can’t close, it can’t close so it’s open at all times and the access to the vault is a regular door with two deadbolts that anyone with a vacuum lock unlocked, sorry and there’s just two keys now I don’t know if that was the case, but I am not impressed with the safety of the ballot boxes” – Lincoln Bain

Bain says they were allowed to inspect the vault at the PRD, following a meeting between the three parties and officials Tuesday night, after chaos ensued. Earlier that evening, authorities attempted to move ballot boxes from police headquarters to PRD.

I asked FNM Chairman, Dr. Duane Sands, if they too had an issue with the vault.

“This was formally the Bank of The Bahamas. I believe that that vault was used to store a large sums of money. They didn’t have any challenges with penetration yeah, they had a robbery here, but the vault was not an issue so you know we’re gonna be honest in our assessment, we do not have a concern about the integrity of the vault” – Dr. Duane Sands

Now we weren’t able to get comment from Thompson on Tuesday night’s drama or a response to the security of the vault.
