Israelis Vote in Pivotal Election Centered on Netanyahu’s Leadership

ISRAEL – Israelis are voting in a pivotal election today as their country wrestles with unresolved wars, lingering grief and anger over Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack, and deep divisions over its longest-serving leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu faces an array of parties seeking to drive him from power as the race is widely seen as a referendum on his nearly unbroken 17-year rule.

Nearly 56% of the over 7 million people eligible voters had cast ballots by 4PM, the highest turnout by that point since at least 1973.

Tens of thousands have reportedly arrived from overseas.
