NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bacardi Road was covered in a sea of pink on Sunday morning as the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) marked its second annual Pink Sunday, spreading the message of breast cancer awareness through faith and community.

The initiative, held at Life Changers Ministries International, transformed the church into a pink-themed sanctuary as PHA officials and supporters joined congregants to promote their Mammogram Movement, an effort to raise $1 million for two new mammogram machines for Princess Margaret Hospital.

Faith and Unity in the Fight Against Cancer

Among those in attendance was Ann-Marie Davis, wife of the Prime Minister, who said the day was about more than awareness, it was about unity.

“It is about standing together in faith and in love,” Davis said.

PHA Managing Director Dr. Aubynette Rolle shared a personal reflection on how cancer has touched her own life, recalling the pain of watching her child endure chemotherapy despite her decades of experience as a nurse.

“You have no idea what it felt like being a nurse for forty years and could only sit there and watch your child go through chemotherapy,” she said.

A Message of Hope

Breast cancer survivors and those currently battling the disease were also in attendance. Alana Major, Director of the PHA Foundation, said their presence sends a powerful message.

“They’ve already gone through the journey, some are still going through it, but they’re able to say, ‘yes, I went through this process, and there’s hope,’” Major said.

The PHA’s Pink Sunday continues to serve as a reminder that early detection saves lives, and that faith, unity, and awareness remain key in the fight against breast cancer.
