ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS – Proceeds from the Italian booth at last month’s International Food, Wine and Art festival are going to young sailors in the land of pineapples.

The Eleuthera Sailing Academy, a program based in Savannah Sound, will be the recipient of the proceeds.

Italy’s honorary consul to The Bahamas, Dr. Alberto Suighi had the chance to visit the program, which also teaches windsurfing, kite surfing, and a love of the ocean and the environment, where he personally made the presentation.

He also pledged to sponsor more sailors for the program, which hosts 35 young sailors.

Basketball

Buddy Hield had seven points in his Indiana Pacers’ loss to the Milwaukee Bucks 140 to 126.

His national teammate Eric Gordon was a surprise scratch from a banged-up Phoenix Suns’ lineup last night as he was out with a calf strain as they fell to the nets 116 to 112.

In college, Deyton Albury went off to the tune of 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists as his Queen’s University Royals fell to Appalachian State, 93-81 and Frederick King had no points as his 8-ranked Creighton Bluejays were upset by UNLV 79 to 64.
