NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Prime Minister Perry Christie says Haiti is optimistic about a solution to the ongoing unrest there despite the ongoing turmoil.

It comes following his trip to the island nation as part of the CARICOM Emminent Persons Group, tasked with finding a way forward for Haiti.

Christie is serving alongside former Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding and former St. Lucian Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony.

The group will liaise with officials from the United Nations, the United States, and Canada on the issue.

Meanwhile, Christie says the goal is to move towards the democratization of Haiti.
