JAMAICA – Humane World for Animals says its disaster team is on the ground in Jamaica delivering food, medicine and supplies to animal shelters cut off after Hurricane Melissa.

Officials call the damage “almost beyond comprehension” with buildings leveled, power poles snapped and many communities still inaccessible.

The group is supporting shelters in Negril and Montego Bay, caring for more than 200 animals and preparing a mass veterinary clinic.

Officials say animals will need both urgent relief and long-term help as Jamaica recovers.
