JAMAICA – The Jamaican government has imposed a moratorium on official overseas travel across the public sector until March 31, 2027, restricting trips to essential activities.

This as the country directs resources toward recovery from Hurricane Melissa.

The directive applies to ministers, senior public officials, board members, executives and employees of government ministries, departments, agencies and public bodies.

The restrictions come as Jamaica faces the demands of rebuilding following Hurricane Melissa, while concerns over government spending and rising living costs add to the pressure on public finances.
