JAMAICA – Jamaica welcomed its first cohort of 43 Ghanaian nurses on Monday as part of a four-year bilateral health agreement.

The agreement targets the recruitment and temporary deployment of up to 400 healthcare workers to the island and provides a framework for the voluntary recruitment of Ghanaian health professionals, particularly nurses and doctors, while promoting cooperation between the two countries and ethical international recruitment practices.

The nurses will be assigned to public hospitals across the island and have specialties including critical care, paediatrics, operating theatre, nursing and midwifery, emergency care, oncology, and mental health and psychiatric care.
