Liberty’s Win Against the Sun

JJ took it to her old squad, handing the Sun their first loss of the season in an 82-77 win. She dominated the game on both ends, scoring 22 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, blocking 4 shots, and shooting 4 of 7 from behind the arc. Sabrina Ionescu led the team with 24 points and 5 assists, and Brianna Stewart added 13 points. The win puts them at 3-0 in Commissioner’s Cup play.

Bahamians in Major League Sports

Saturday was a rough night for Bahamians in the majors. Jazz Chisholm got a hit in his Miami Marlins’ 8-0 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. Jazz’s division rival coach Antoan Richardson and his New York Mets lost 7-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies in London. In the minors, Sebastian Walcott’s hot streak continues as he hit a 2-run home run to help his Hickory Crawdads get a 12-1 win over the Greenville Drive. Meanwhile, on the soccer pitch, Team Bahamas played a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier match against Trinidad and Tobago, falling 7-1 with Peter Julimis scoring the Junkanoo Boys’ lone goal.
