JJ, Liberty Lose Playoff Series 3-1

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – Jonquel Jones and her New York Liberty fell to the Las Vegas Aces 70-69 Wednesday night, making the Aces the 2023 WNBA Champions.

JJ scored six points but she grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked three shots. Her teammates’ struggles continued with Breanna Stewart going 3 for 17 from the field for 10 points and Sabrina Ionescou scoring only 13.

The game ultimately came down to a last-second shot by Courtney Vandersloot that airballed.

JJ corralled the rebound but was unable to score the second chance bucket ahead of the buzzer.

A’ja Wilson, who had 24 points and 16 rebounds, was awarded MVP for the series.

Golf

The White Sands Invitational brings together golfers from nine universities for a meet at the famed Ocean Club Golf Course.

One of them – the University of The Bahamas.

Golfers Mia Underwood, Travis Cartwright and Payton Haye are all set to go in the tournament.

The men’s tournament begins Thursday with practice rounds with the final wrapping up on Sunday and the women are all set to go next weekend.
