NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama’s very own Jonquell Jones established herself as a bona fide WNBA superstar with the Connecticut Sun winning 6th woman of the year, making 4 All-star games, and winning an MVP during her six seasons in the constitution state.

In the offseason, she requested to leave the Sun, resulting in a monster 3-team trade that would land her a few hours down the I-95 in the Big Apple, making her only the third former MVP in the three-decade history of the league to ever be traded.

Last season, Jones took the Sun to the finals averaging 14.5 points and almost nine rebounds where they fell to the Las Vegas Aces.

Now that she’s in New York with a talented squad behind her, most notably standouts Brianna Stewart and Sabrina Ionousku, there’s no reason to believe that Jones and the Liberty can’t win it all this season.

The Capital Union Bank Bahamas Rugby Cup will be played tomorrow, Saturday, May 20th afternoon at 3PM on the Winton Rugby pitch in New Providence.

Freeport RFC will play a combined squad of Baillou and Buccaneers players to decide who’s the best in the country.

Before the match, Bahamas Rugby is holding a free rugby clinic for anyone ages 7-20 interested in learning the game.

The clinic runs every week from 11AM to 2PM and it’s a great opportunity to get out, get active, and learn a very fun sport.
