NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court judge is now expected to release a ruling next week that will determine whether the corruption trial of Long Island MP Adrian Gibson will proceed.

Gibson is accused of illegally profiting from contracts to the tune of $1.25 while he served as the executive chairman of the Water and Sewerage Corporation under the FNM government.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson was supposed to deliver her decision today. However, the ruling is now scheduled to be delivered on Monday at 9:30am.

The judge is set to rule on two issues: whether the prosecution’s key witness Alexandria Mackey will be allowed to testify virtually and whether Gibson’s constitutional right to a fair trial has been breached.

The prosecution wants Gibson’s former fiancée to testify from Florida because she’s allegedly afraid to return to The Bahamas after she was allegedly brutally attacked by Gibson in December 2021.

Gibson’s lawyer, Murrio Ducille KC, has opposed the application for Mackey to testify by video-link.

Ducille has also argued that the prosecution has prejudiced Gibson in his defense by failing to make full disclosure.

Gibson’s corruption case was supposed to begin on Monday, May 8. However, a constitutional motion filed on May 4 prevented the trial from getting underway.
