GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama hosting its 2024 New Year’s Day Junkanoo Parade on Pioneers Way Monday evening. Several groups in the a and b categories showing up and showing out on the parade route. 

Nine groups put on a spectacular show as they showed off their costumes, themes and music all hoping the capture the top spot in their respective categories.

Carnival sponsoring the parade this year. Marie McKenzie says the cruise line knows what junkanoo means to Bahamians.

Chairman of the National Junkanoo Committee Andrew Pinder encouraged Bahamians to continue the season of Junkanoo even after the parades.

Leader of the Saxons Junkanoo group, Percy ‘Vola’ Francis traveled to Grand Bahama.

He says he is pleased to see the improvement of the parade over the past decade.

Hundreds of residents and visitors were also on Pioneers Way to see what has been described as the best show on earth.

This Canadian visitor calling the parade amazing.
