NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This week, The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services is hosting “The Nose Knows”, the first annual three-day Bahamas Inter-agency K-9 seminar.

Bahamas Inter-agency K-9 Seminar is hosting handlers from both public and private K-9 agencies, and will cover things from training techniques to a potential formation of a national canine agency.

Minister of National Security, Wayne Munroe, stressed the importance of the country’s K-9 units in his opening remarks.

Pointing out that the government has mandated that each unit establish a breeding facility, Monroe’s main push is to challenge the agencies to come together to form a national canine agency.

And, that idea is something that could save thousands annually according to head of the Airport Authority’s K-9 unit, Senior Superintendent Teron Deveaux.

We had multiple K-9 handlers tell us that their unit impacts security, daily.
