LONDON – Buckingham Palace announced that the coronation of King Charles III will take place next year – May 6th.

A statement from the palace also called it a modern affair that will “look towards the future.”

It will also be “rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry”, that tradition will include the anointing and consecration of the king by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The world will witness an act done at most royal coronations since 1066.

The new king will be crowned alongside the Queen Consort Camilla.

The May date will allow for the appropriate period of time to mourn.

73-year-old Charles became Britain’s Monarch following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.
