LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles is bracing for another dangerous day as winds fueling wildfires are forecasted to intensify on Wednesday, following the confirmation of the 25th fatality in the week-long outbreak. The National Weather Service warns of “extreme fire danger” in areas northwest of the city, with wind speeds expected to peak at 70 mph in mountainous regions, nearing hurricane force.

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone cautions that the combination of strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation keeps the fire risk critical. While some relief is expected later this week, officials stress the urgent need for rain.
