NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Labour Day celebrations this year promises to be a special one as the country celebrates 50 years of Independence.

Several events are planned in the days leading up to the annual Labour Day Parade including a courtesy call on the family of the late Sir Randol Fawkes, a thanksgiving service, and the introduction of a landmark initiative.

The union of Tertiary Educators of The Bahamas President Daniel Thompson providing information on the parade for those that seek to join.

A moment of silence will be held during a portion of the parade in remembrance of the 5th anniversary of the tragic accident that left five women dead who attended the parade.

Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union President Sherry Benjamin says officers will be on hand to maintain order on the parade.
