NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Department of Labour brought its Labour on the Block 2.0 job fair to Sea Breeze on Saturday, hosting over 25 companies with multiple positions open for hire.

This collaborative effort was made possible by a partnership with area MP Leslie Miller-Brice.

According to Miller-Brice, the event is just one of several initiatives planned for the area, encouraging residents to seize the opportunities.

And many residents did just that, with several companies hiring applicants on the spot.

Despite the significant demand for these job fairs, officials say the unemployment rate is at its lowest in recent history.

Simone Thurston, public employment services unit manager, says the department is working hard to reach 0 unemployment.

Companies from all across The Archipelago, including Torch Cay and Great Stirrup Cay, traveled for the job fair.

Wellington Mackey is harbor master at Great Stirrup Cay.

And if you’re a job seeker who missed Saturday’s Labour on the Blocks, officials promised future initiatives across the country.
